Some months, my husband and I have a hard time staying under our 200 texts a month; since we primarily text each other, I thought we could give the iPhone version of WhatsApp a try. It’s basically a mock-up of the iPhone’s texting interface but it uses your data connection (3G or wifi) instead of counting against your texting plan. It’s a pretty neat little program, fairly quick with the ability to send photo and audio texts, as well as custom chat backgrounds and a few other features. So far, it’s proving a neat little alternative!
For Christmas, I was fortunate enough to receive a Barnes & Noble nook and, even though I had to wait a month or two for it to arrive, I was smitten right away and have thoroughly enjoyed the device; in fact, I’ve loved it so much, I bought one for my husband for his birthday!
Imagine my dismay when a crack appeared on one of the page forward buttons…
Kittehs Kiki and Keykey have found a home in the midst of war. And it’s all thanks to three US Marines, Brian Chambers, Chris Berry and Aaron Shaw. They started a mission to help find homes for stray cats that they found while serving in Afghanistan. After finding Keykey injured by a c-wire, Berry took care of his wounds and nursed him back to health and the two of them have been best friends every since.
And now Keykey is living with Berry’s parents in Michigan while Kiki is living with Chambers’ parents in Texas and both are enjoying their new loving homes! Those Marines are definitely heroes in our book as is also the group of Royal Marines that started the organization called Nowzad in 2007. This organization rescues stray and abandoned animals in Afghanistan and Iraq.
While at the grocery store last night, I was making my way through the produce department and saw baskets of Buddy Fruits scattered throughout fruit displays, on sale for $1 each. The package promised that each pouch is one daily serving of fruit and that the product is really just blended fruit —- no added sugar, no preservatives, nothing else. So I figured why not? And threw a handful into my cart.
Honestly, this is a great snack. I tried out the Apple + Multifruit flavor and it was delicious, a lot like applesauce with other fruits blended in. It was naturally sweet enough, although the texture at times made me think of baby food. The pouches are handy and easy; they don’t need to be refrigerated until you open one and the cap is resealable. I’ll probably keep a stock of these in my desk at work for a quick snack!
“Sounding an air horn (boat horn/fog horn) at exactly the moment the cat’s feet touch the countertop [will deter them from jumping up]. You should hide when doing this. The idea is that the cat thinks that the counter made the noise, not you.”— petplace.com
